Marie: Here's a story I missed last week because it's firewalled; however, Forbes also produced this video covering the story of Trump's billion-dollar tax write--off: pretending his golf courses are "bird sanctuaries" & (probably) preventing the IRS from challenging those fake writeoffs: ~~~
~~~ Also, do watch "The Story of Lil Jared and the BIG Financial Crime," embedded below.
It was abundantly clear that without my intervention, the possibility to bring humanitarian aid into the city and to evacuate the elderly would be impossible. -- Melania Trump, statement on the White House Website ~~~
~~~ Gary Legum of Wonkette comments on Melanie's taking credit for Pope Leo's sickbed effort to secure a very limited ceasefire in one city in Ukraine. MB: Maybe I'm all wrong here, but it seems to me that when you start saying out loud that you're better than the Pope, you might want to rethink your communications strategy.

He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory. -- Barack Obama, at a rally in Cleveland, Ohio, commenting on the gold-colored accents Trump has slapped on the White House walls ~~~
~~~ Obama Gets His Groove On. Tim Balk, et al., of the New York Times: “Former President Barack Obama on Saturday attacked ... [Donald] Trump’s administration in searing terms, saying it was defined by 'incompetence the likes of which we have not seen in modern times.' Appearing in Cleveland at his first campaign rally of the midterm elections, Mr. Obama said that Mr. Trump’s second term had amounted to 'two years of chaos and cruelty and corruption,' and declared that top administration officials were 'not serious people.' The appearance by Mr. Obama, who is expected to also speak at a rally in Detroit later in the day, sets up a rare split-screen between him and Mr. Trump, who is scheduled to appear at a rally in Georgia in the evening. In Ohio, Mr. Obama was joining Dr. Amy Acton, the Democratic nominee for Ohio governor, and former Senator Sherrod Brown, the Democratic nominee for Senate in the state.... Mr. Obama assailed [Vivek] Ramaswamy over the ad [featuring Dr. Acton's mother], saying there appeared to be 'no line' Mr. Ramaswamy would not cross. 'There’s a decency that we should expect out of our public officials,' the former president said. 'And I don’t know what’s happened where the standards of behavior have gotten so low that somebody can run an ad like that.' Dr. Acton also addressed the commercial....
“Mr. Obama made late endorsements over the weekend in Florida, backing David Jolly, the Democratic nominee for Florida governor, and Angie Nixon, the left-wing Democratic Senate nominee, who would be Florida’s first Black senator.” The link above is a gift link. (Also linked yesterday.)
~~~ The story has been updated -- with bylines added -- to include President Obama's speech in Detroit, delivered last night. Also this: “As Mr. Obama was speaking in Michigan, Mr. Trump took the stage at his own rally in Perry, Ga., creating a rare split-screen between the two presidents. Mr. Trump said his accomplishments eclipsed those of his predecessors, and falsely claimed that Mr. Obama had spoken to an 'empty' venue in Michigan.” Al Jazeera's story relies on AFP & AP accounts. This NBC News story covers the Ohio rally. Here's the NBC News story on the Michigan rally.
~~~ Here's a big chunk of President Obama's speech in Ohio. Notice how he smacks Trump down and mocks him with great effect, yet hardly mentions old man's name:
~~~ Here's the full speech. Following is a brief clip of the Michigan rally: ~~~
~~~ Video of President Obama's full speech in Michigan is here. ~~~
~~~ Marie: Obama's mocking remarks about Trump's redecoration schemes probably cut Trump more than anything else. Obama spent a good deal of time during the rallies on substantive issues like Trump's Iran war & his tariffs, but Trump doesn't care about matters of state nearly as much as he does about the ballroom & picking the light fixtures & all that. Obama mocked Trump's poor taste -- what Patrick once called "Louis Farouk." Obama's jokes about the gaudy splashes of gold were about Trump himself; Obama belittled the things Trump often boasts he does best -- not Trump's policies, which he can and does change on a whim. ~~~
~~~ Sean James of Mediaite: At his Georgia rally for GOP Senate candidate & white nationalist Mike Collins, Trump ranted about immigrants from "shithouse countries" and lamented the U.S. doesn't have more immigration from Scandanavian countries.
~~~ Jamelle Bouie of the New York Times: “... thanks to a set of Trump’s bad decisions ..., Democrats have turned what was supposed to be a bad Senate map into one where they stand a real chance of winning a decently sized majority in the chamber.... [For one thing, there] is the wide gap in candidate quality between the Republicans and Democrats. In race after race, Democrats have managed to recruit and advance candidates who are well positioned to capitalize on changing political circumstances.... As for the Republicans, the opposite appears to be true.... While Trump’s endorsement is a powerful force in Republican primaries, the president does not actually have a great track record of picking candidates who go on to win general elections.” The link is a gift link.
Tim Balk of the New York Times: Donald “Trump voted at a polling station in Palm Beach County, Fla., on Saturday afternoon, 10 days before the midterm elections. Mr. Trump, joined by the first lady, Melania Trump, cast his ballot before a trip to Georgia for a campaign rally. Over the years, Mr. Trump has voted early in person and by mail, though he has also at times said early voting is 'stupid' and 'ridiculous,' and promoted baseless claims that mail voting is rife with fraud. 'We should have one-day voting,' Mr. Trump said in July 2024. This year, he voted by mail in a March special election and in Florida’s primary elections in August. Mr. Trump, a native New Yorker who now calls Florida home, has been registered to vote in Palm Beach County since 2019.” The link is a gift link. MB: The only time Trump ventures into the 21st century is when it promises him some new grift or scam. Otherwise, he represents the very worst of the late-19th & 20th centuries. ~~~~~~ Jessica Contrera of the New York Times: At a Trump rally in Youngstown, Ohio, this month Blake Miley “stood up halfway through, revealing her shirt [that read, 'RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES.'] and yelling, 'Fascist, fascist!' Almost immediately, Ms. Miley, 29, was tackled, held down and punched by male rally-goers as the president mocked her from the stage, calling her 'scum,' 'low-class,' and 'a fat guy.' As Mr. Trump barnstorms the country hoping to revive his base ahead of the midterm election, he is ... heckling protesters and encouraging violence against them. In Georgia last week, he expressed his love for a supporter who had responded to a protester by 'slapping the guy around,' and promised to bring the slapper to Washington. In South Carolina on Wednesday, he praised an 'incredible' punch that a rally-goer landed on another protester, saying, 'He got whacked, man!'
“'I knew there was a really good possibility that this would happen,' she said. 'But I don’t blame myself. It is not right what they did to me.' Ms. Miley ... had intentionally seated herself among people who seemed older, she said. She hoped it would keep her safe. But as soon as she started yelling, a man grabbed for her neck and then shoved her backward, video of the episode shows. When she stood back up, another man appeared to pull her to the ground, put her in a headlock, yank her hair and punch her in the face. She remembers being hit twice, unable to get up until Mahoning County sheriff’s deputies intervened about 30 seconds into the brawl....
“The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department was getting flooded with angry calls from people who had seen video of the incident, demanding to know why no one had been arrested. The sheriff, Jerry Greene, said he had as many 800 phone messages.... Sheriff Greene, who had changed parties to become a Republican in 2023, said that he is, in fact, doing something.... He has identified three men who he said took part in the assault, including a New Jersey resident who said in a now-deleted Facebook post that he and two friends had 'subdued her and threw her to the concrete.'... The sheriff said that all three would be interviewed in coming days.” The link is a gift link. Yesterday, RAS linked to a link to the NYT story.
~~~ Marie: Thank you to all the people who called the Mahoning County sheriff's office to complain about the officiers' failure to arrest Miley's violent attackers. The Supremes may have given Trump immunity from prosecution for all official acts, but he is still liable for prosecution for unofficial acts. That would include holding a political rally. Donald Trump should face charges -- here and elsewhere -- for inciting violence against peaceful protesters. I'm serious. Even a fake POTUS* can't be dragged around the country to be arrested, charged & arraigned in all the places he commits felonies, but I'm sure D.A.s can figure out a way to do all that without disrupting the repeat felon's "official duties." ~~~
~~~ Linda Qiu of the New York Times: “In his second term..., [Donald] Trump has seldom let a day go by without repeating lies about election results or casting doubt on the country’s voting system. They are falsehoods that in some cases act as a prelude to actions his administration has taken to intervene in the midterm elections, like preemptively seeking to block election results in Alaska should the Republican incumbent narrowly lose or suing California over its voter rolls. Mr. Trump has only ramped up his attacks as the midterms near and as control of Congress hangs in the balance. He has amplified conspiracy theories about how votes are cast and how they are counted in various states and baselessly declared past election results fraudulent, paving the way for him to question the integrity of the November election. Here’s a guide to some recent claims.” The link is a gift link. MB: This may be the first time Qiu has used the word “lies” to characterize Trump's whoppers, and she has compiled many reporters of those whoppers.
Laurel Rosenhall of the New York Times picks up on a Courthouse News Service story linked here yesterday: Donald “Trump violated federal law by seizing control of the California National Guard last year and deploying troops to the streets of Los Angeles during immigration protests, a federal appeals court ruled on Friday. With the midterm election less than two weeks away, the ruling could provide an extra layer of legal assurance on the limits a president faces in using the military on American soil.... Mr. Trump has said in the past that he regretted not ordering the National Guard to seize voting machines after the 2020 election. And in recent months, he has taken unusual steps to disrupt voting procedures in several states. 'To the extent people were concerned that he could try to federalize Guards, try to send them to polling places, I think this clearly says no, you can’t,' said Erwin Chemerinsky, the dean of the law school at the University of California, Berkeley.” The link is a gift link. ~~~
~~~ Marie: Chemerinsky is no doubt correct that Trump can't legally call out the Guard, but that doesn't mean he won't, IMO. If he tries it & some governors challenge him, it's possible some units will follow their governors' directions. But if Trump tries this & other illegal stunts, he'll likely get away with it in some places. And if he manages to grab ballot boxes, for instance, he will compromise the chain of custody for those devices, and who knows how courts will rule on the validity of the vote. ~~~
~~~ Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times on how Donald Trump has worked to destroy “three pillars that explain the rise, strength and resilience of our nation”: education, immigration, and “the bundle of norms that govern our politics, economics and society.... The mix of grandiosity, authoritarianism and sleaze dribbling out of the White House is polluting government, civil society and the economy. Having spent much of my journalistic career reporting in two-bit dictatorships, I see so much that is familiar; it’s heartbreaking to see this unfold in my own country. Trump has worked to undermine the entire international system the United States created after World War II — for our benefit and the world’s — to promote peace, trade, prosperity and health.... None of this is normal. We are betraying other countries but also our own history and culture.... So those are the stakes in this election....” The link is a gift link. ~~~
~~~ Glenn Thrush, et al., of the New York Times: “The Justice Department is sharply intensifying efforts to intervene in the midterm elections, goaded by a president unfettered by even the limited restraints of his first term. The next several weeks represent a critical moment for federal law enforcement, a test of whether a department repurposed by President Trump as an instrument of unmediated executive power will be effectively mobilized as a guarantor of his political power. In recent weeks, the department has taken several new steps, including an extraordinary effort to invalidate any potential Democratic victory in the Alaska Senate race, that reflect Mr. Trump’s growing agitation as his party faces the possibility of losing control of Congress precipitated by his sagging popularity.... The episode comes amid the department’s widening push to exclude large batches of mail-in votes.... At the same time, Attorney General Todd Blanche has abandoned departmental norms by promoting prosecutions and investigations of politicians, within 60 days of the election.” The link is a gift link. We’ve given a lot to Ukraine. They’ve given nothing to us. Remember that. -- Donald Trump, last week
In the battle between democracy and autocracy, democracies are rising to the moment, and the world is clearly choosing the side of peace and security. This is a real test. It's going to take time. So let us continue to draw inspiration from the iron will of the Ukrainian people. -- President Joe Biden, State of the Union address, March 2022 ~~~
“To many [Ukrainians], Mr. Trump has crossed an irrevocable line by buying Russian diesel and suspending sanctions in what energy experts call a futile effort to bring down fuel prices before the midterm elections. Mr. Trump, who has cut U.S. aid to Ukraine by 99 percent, is sending American money to the Kremlin — and therefore to a Russian war machine that the United Nations says is killing Ukrainian civilians at a 'new horrifying level.'... Under [P]resident Joseph R. Biden Jr., the United States’ message to Ukraine was that its fight was the front line in a global battle for freedom. By holding firm, he said, Ukrainians were defending the democratic world itself.” The link is a gift link.
~~~ Sheera Frenkel, et al., of the New York Times: “Elon Musk weighed in on Saturday with his first explanation of the disruptions to the Ukrainian military’s satellite system, saying in a post on X that Ukraine had violated the terms of service for his Starlink internet service by using it 'for offensive drone strikes to kill people.' Mr. Musk, 55, added that his company SpaceX, which operates the Starlink satellite system, had closed the 'loophole' last week, though he offered few specifics. He differentiated between Starlink, which he said was a service meant for civilians, and Starshield, a system developed by SpaceX and controlled by the U.S. government that can be used for military purposes. In Ukraine, drones resumed flying at normal speeds again on Saturday, President Volodymyr Zelensky said, after more than a week of back-and-forth with Washington over the slowdown that had hampered crucial military operations.
“Also on Saturday, SpaceX sent a letter to Congress about its services in Ukraine. In it, SpaceX reiterated that no changes were made to Starshield, which was the purview of the U.S. government. Changes were made to Starlink, the company said, because Ukraine was using the system for 'offensive military aviation missions.'... Serhii Sternenko, who advised Ukraine’s former defense minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, pushed back against Mr. Musk’s assertion that Ukraine used Starlink for offensive operations. It was, 'technically impossible' to use Starlink for drone missiles, he wrote on X. 'Ukraine did not violate the terms of use.'” The link is a gift link.
akaWendy found a fabulous "interpretation" of the firewalled Vanity Fair excerpt of a book by Matthew Cole that fingers Jared Kushner (and Donald Trump and others) in massive international money-making, money-laundering, traitorous, illegal slush funds used for numerous nefarious payouts. ~~~
Maegan Vazquez & Karen DeYoung of the Washington Post: “The top U.S. intelligence official has warned of growing threats to American officials abroad, saying that Iran has increased its efforts to target and kill them. The United States has 'received intelligence that Iran substantially increased efforts to target U.S. personnel,' according to a memo sent Friday by Jay Clayton, the director of national intelligence, to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.” The Axios report, which broke the story, is here. ~~~
~~~ Poised for Escalation. David Sanger, et al., of the New York Times: “The conflict in the Middle East has entered a new phase in which a maelstrom of factors, from the political calendars in the United States and Israel to the potential for all sides to be seeking pretexts for action, are creating heightened levels of tension and risk. This is how countries can escalate into full-scale war, several diplomats and outside experts noted. If the U.S. intelligence disclosed this week is right that Iran has credible plans to attack Americans at home and abroad, one senior European official said — 'and it probably is,' the official added — one gunshot that appears aimed at a U.S. official could touch off a conflagration. So could a stray explosion near a bunker sheltering Iranian leaders, who already survived their predecessors’ deaths in a decapitation strike in the opening hours of the war on Feb. 28.” The link is a gift link
John Cox of the Washington Post on how the Trump administration intimidates and fires immigration judges, who -- unlike most federal judges -- are employees of the DOJ & do not have tenure. The story is told mostly through the eyes of Karen Donoso Stevens, a judge who was removed from the bench in the middle of a hearing and no longer is allowed to oversee cases for migrants in detention.
Trip Gabriel of the New York Times: “Noah Adams, a longtime host of NPR’s 'All Things Considered' whose quiet baritone and empathetic ear brought listeners stories of back-roads America not often heard on the national airwaves, died on Oct. 16 at his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio. He was 84.” The link is a gift link.
Alaska Senate Race. Clarissa-Jan Lim of MS NOW: “Alaska Senate Democratic nominee Mary Peltola and national Democrats have filed a legal motion to fight the Trump administration’s lawsuit over the Alaska Senate race, asking a judge to grant a motion to intervene and ultimately dismiss the case. Marc Elias, the lawyer representing both Peltola’s campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, said Saturday that his firm 'has filed to fight DOJ’s lawsuit to rig the Alaska Senate election.” ~~~
~~~ Joe DePaolo of Mediaite:&;nbsp“... Donald Trump raged at Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) over her opposition to his DOJ’s lawsuit in the hotly-contested Alaska Senate race. In a post to Truth Social late Saturday night, the president ripped Murkowski for criticizing the DOJ lawsuit to block certification of the Alaska Senate election if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses — a lawsuit which Trump says was filed at his behest. Republicans fear that the incumbent Dan Sullivan will have votes siphoned away from him by another man named Dan Sullivan who is on the ballot — potentially tipping the race towards Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK). Alaska uses ranked choice voting in its elections — which Trump blasted as a 'TOTAL DEMOCRAT SCAM' in his post late Saturday.... In a Friday post on X, Murkowski denounced the lawsuit and said the feds ought to have stayed out of the Alaska race. 'Alaskans don’t need any help voting for their preferred candidates, and the State of Alaska has already handled this by clearly distinguishing the candidates on this year’s ballot,' Murkowski said. 'The Department of Justice should never have filed this lawsuit.'” ~~~
~~~ Marie: Murkowski seems to be correct. In 2010, Alaska voters were able to choose her when they had to write in her hard-to-spell, three-syllable name. I'd guess they can figure out the difference between the Dan Sullivan whose name is clearly marked on the ballot as (1) the Republican candidate and (2) the incumbent and the other guy.
Iowa Gubernatorial Race. Shane Goldmacher & Beth Reinhard of the New York Times: “If there is one thing that Zach Lahn, the Republican nominee for governor of Iowa, definitely does not want to talk about, it’s his connection to the Koch family. To hear Mr. Lahn tell it, he is a self-made businessman, a father of seven and a farmer running against powerful corporate interests. He has campaigned on his financial independence, pointing to the $2.5 million he lent himself during the primary. He rode that cash and a right-leaning brand of prairie populism to the nomination, defeating President Trump’s preferred pick in the primary. Now he is facing Rob Sand, the Democratic state auditor, in a race that Democrats view as one of their best shots to flip a governorship. But there is a more complicated tale of Mr. Lahn’s rise that is interwoven with the Kochs, one of America’s richest and most influential political dynasties.
“The story includes years of work for Koch-funded endeavors, a divorce and a new marriage to a former Koch who had just received a sizable divorce settlement of her own. It involves an expanding investment portfolio — including a million-dollar stake in a manufacturer of high-tech penis rings — accusations of carpetbagging and a private plane that has shuttled back and forth to Kansas with two words emblazoned under the wings: 'Iowa First.'”
~~~ Marie: Sorry for being naive, but I had no idea what a “high-tech penis ring” was. In this case, it turns out to be a device “promising longer erections and more intense orgasms. At one point, the company sought to trademark hats that read, 'Make America Firm Again,'” according to the Times report. I still don't know just how this orgasmic ring is supposed to deliver its promise, so I leave it to your imagination. (You may share, of course, but perhaps employing some discretion in the form of euphemistic language or medical terminology.) I have been aware for a long time that a lot of politics, particularly on the Republican side, is about sex & power (especially over women), but this is an angle I had not anticipated.

It's concerning that a three-judge panel (two Trump appointees) have snatched a case from District Court that hadn't even been heard yet. The case was brought by DoJ to stop the ballot count of 20,000 voters it says may be non-citizens. There are many troubling things about this action, including the sketchiness of the DoJ list.

"Watchdog Seeks IG Probe After Records Show Rep. Andy Ogles’s Lawyer Asked Ed Martin to End DOJ Investigation
Today, American Oversight asked the Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to investigate whether political favoritism played a role in DOJ’s decision to drop its criminal campaign finance investigation of Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), after records recently obtained by the watchdog through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) litigation showed Ogles’s attorney asking Ed Martin — then director of the department’s Weaponization Working Group — to shut the investigation down."
Fake News
"As rumors swirled that she was being kicked out of the State Department, Noem put out an official-looking press release on social media last week with a boilerplate statement saying that she remained a “senior adviser.”
The problem? Two people familiar with Noem’s work at the State Department told ud that the press release, which featured a quote circulating in most coverage of her job change, was not authorized by department leadership. “This was not a press release put out by the State Department,” one of the people said. “Noem went rogue and created a fake letterhead to post on X.”"
One (and only one) of the maddening aspects of harmful government actions taken under the Pretender's regime is the entire absence of liability. If any of those supposed non-citizen voters on the list of over 20,000 has their franchise mistakenly compromised or stripped from them, what' their recourse? And if past is prologue the chances of that are very high.
You can bet they won't get even an apology from the government that is itself committing the fraud.
Trying to Protect the Criminals
"White House attorneys are evaluating whether to issue mass pardons to junior staffers, as Trump allies press the administration to protect lower-ranked officials from prosecution and other legal challenges, according to two sources familiar with the conversations.
While President Donald Trump has publicly discussed issuing pardons for top aides and issued pardons for billionaires and major donors, questions have mounted about the potential legal jeopardy facing thousands of employees who have implemented the White House’s agenda."
Whenever I read "Donald Trump has violated federal laws" I think....yeah? This is not news. He does it five or six times a day. It's his avocation.
RAS,
Remember when the obese infant was screeching that anyone pardoned by Biden needed to be investigated because the pardons made them look "guilty as hell"? And remember how the legacy media tut-tutted over those pardons? Biden pardoned people he thought would be prosecuted illegally and unfairly by the Fat Hitler Deparment of Injustice (kinda like they're doing to all of Fatty's enemies right this minute). Anyone getting a blanket pardon from Trump will likely be involved in his many crimes and should probably do jail time. Think the media will point that out?
Wait....the South African Chainsaw Maniac is just now figuring out that people get killed in wars?
I thought he was the smartest guy in the world (after Trump, of course).
So let's see how this logic works. Elmo sells his services to Ukraine, which is in a fight for its existence with Elmo's pal Putin. It's an all out shooting war. But Ukraine shouldn't be using the system to try to defend itself because that might cause Russians to die. Better to let Russia bomb the absolute shit out of Ukraine so Ukrainians can die. Did I get that right?
But now Mr. Pacifist is threatening to go after people who criticize him with "everything he's got" because they piss off his royal highness.
I know it's not gonna happen, but when the next Democrat goes into the. White House, and we have control of both chambers, they should end all government contracts with this pyscho. A huge portion of his trillion dollar wealth is on paper as part of the billions in taxpayer money that gets funneled into his pockets. Turn that spigot off. Let him peddle his crappy products somewhere else. Oh, but everyone on earth now knows that if you buy his Starshit stuff, he will turn it off if he feels like it. In any event, we should make it so that this narcissistic dickhead learns that just because he has money, he doesn't get to decide who lives and dies, even though his pal Fatty thinks that's the prerogative of billionaires. Zuckerberg thinks so too apparently, as do all of those tech-bro overlords.
Akhilleus,
My question is how many pardons these guys will need? We have seen that a number of Trump's customers have committed crimes after their pardons. And we know that these people will be asked or volunteer to continue criming for the next two years. A pardon now would be a waste of money, I mean donation.
RAS,
Good point, Fatty will have to get Toddy and the Swine to invent some kind of perpetual pardon, kind of like the one he got from John Roberts, so his minions, goons, and White House apparatchiks can continue criming and helping with his many criminal enterprises. There's only so many crimes one pardon can cover.
Waaaaahhhh! No talking to Democrats!
Fatty is having a sad. Fox is not doing enough to help him steal the midterms.
"President Donald Trump seethed on Sunday over Fox News giving air time to Democrats in the lead-up to the consequential midterm elections.
'FoxNews is spending far too much time putting on the OPPONENTS of Republican Party Candidates, people that love our Country, and have Great Policies and Ideas,' Trump wrote on Truth Social. 'These American Patriots are being absolutely ‘blurred out’ by the Media, and Fox is doing little to help. That’s the only reason this Race is close, if it is indeed close. President DONALD J. TRUMP'
Trump’s complaint came just hours after Fox News host Larry Kudlow, who served in the first Trump administration, fawned over the president in a phone-in interview."
Too much is never enough for the Orange Monster.
And yet... Fox seems to be doing its usual midterm fear mongeringto help the Party of Traitors steal or stay in power.
"Fox News appears to have settled on this cycle’s October surprise, devoting at least 5 hours and 18 minutes of airtime from Saturday through 9 a.m. ET Wednesday to riots in France that its propagandists claim are a harbinger for what will happen in the U.S. if Democrats triumph in the midterm elections.
The network’s hysteria has attracted the attention of President Donald Trump, who has promoted Fox’s coverage of the riots and adopted its arguments. And Republicans have begun using the story to provide 'a jolt for their campaigns,' Politico reported Tuesday, citing party sources who said that 'connecting that perceived anarchy to Democratic policies will be a focus of the GOP’s closing message.'"
Fox has spent hours and hours every day flogging the idea that Democrats will burn down the whole country. Oh, after sex changing all your kids during the lunch break at their elementary school. But this has been a Fox special for years now. As soon as they decide on whichever lie they think will work, they go to the mattresses with it.
"The Fox focus was Ebola in 2014; migrant caravans in 2018; Hunter Biden’s laptop in 2020; and 'America’s crime crisis' in 2022. The rioting and looting in France over the weekend that emerged from largely peaceful protests in that country seems poised to be this year’s addition to that list."
And you'll recall that the second the elections are over, those topics disappear from Fox's rundowns, almost as if, like the Crime Crisis, all that criming disappeared overnight. It's almost as if they were lying!
"Their coverage is consistent with what Fox host Jesse Watters last week described as a necessity to generate 'fear porn' that portrays Democrats as 'scary and dangerous' in order to 'get people to come out to vote.'"
But why does all this PoT-Fox-Trump propaganda work?
"Trump’s genius, if he has one, would seem to be his ability to identify people who can be ripped off by his various schemes, the most spectacularly successful of which has been the Make America Great Again movement, which is essentially a culture-wide affinity fraud, designed to separate frightened old white people from their money.
It’s hardly a coincidence that this could be a word for word description of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire as well."
Well isn't that special?
So, Fatty has been posing as a bird loving environmentalist in order to maintain his tax dodging? Gee, he used to pretend that his golf course was a cemetery in order to get huge property tax breaks after burying an ex-wife in the weeds off to the side of the fairway. I guess he decided he didn't have enough dead ex-wives to keep that scam going, so bird watcher it is. Lucky for Melanie.
Akhilleus - don't forget the goats! How Trump used goats to cut millions of dollars off his local property taxes, and paid just $700 last year
Wendy,
Jesus, I was not aware of this particular Fat Hitler scam. There are so many. But seriously, Old McGrifter had a farm? Because he has a few goats? $700 in property tax for over 100 acres in BEDMINSTER? According to Art Intel, "The average or median residential property tax bill in Bedminster Township, New Jersey is approximately $5,500 to $7,700 per year, depending on the median home valuation and exact assessment year", but not for the Tax Cheat in Chief. He puts a fucking goat on his golf course and he's a farmer. Christ, I PAY more than $700 in property tax.
And these are just the scams most people (but not me) know about. Just think of all the chiseling bullshit he's doing all across the board. He probably gets massive tax breaks for sharpening pencils. And what about the huge tax break he gets at Marred a Lardo for extra toilet paper in those bathrooms where he stores purloined state secrets? The place is a mountain of fecal matter, so millions in tax breaks.
And I'm sure the MAGAts think he's such a genius for these tax scams. They likely don't consider that they, like all other. Americans, are on the hook for paying for his tax breaks. Every dollar he scams, someone else pays for.
Yeah, let's vote for that fucking guy. Goat farmer motherfucker.
Hang on....watching an NFL game, I just saw a Fox spot advertising their coverage of the midterms they're trying to derail for the traitors as "Democracy '26"
Hahahahahahaha....
I guess Authoritarian Racist Fascism '26 doesn't roll off the tongue.
