Mack Liederman & Robert Jimison of the New York Times: Donald “Trump wants to make daylight saving time permanent. Senator Tom Cotton does not. On Saturday, that disagreement led the president to share what he said was the Arkansas Republican’s cellphone number on social media, urging the state’s residents to take the issue up with Mr. Cotton personally. Mr. Trump, championing the Sunshine Protection Act, which has been stalled in the Senate since July, accused Mr. Cotton of holding up the bill in a lengthy Truth Social post. Then Mr. Trump shared 10 digits. 'To the Great People of Arkansas, please let your Senator know it would be a GREAT Bipartisan WIN for the United States Senate,' Mr. Trump said. 'Call Tom on his cellphone.'” The link is a gift link. Politico's story is here. ~~~

     ~~~ Marie: Be assured that if a Democrat had done this, Todd Blanche would be dispatched to have the Democrat arrested, cuffed, and perp-walked. The Democrat would be charged with invasion of privacy, endangering a federal official, terrorism, espionage, treason and about ten other crimes I haven't thought of. The next improvement to the South Lawn would be a gallows and viewing stands. But when Trump does it, it isn't a crime because he has his Article 2 and his Supremes.
AP, published by the Guardian: “States and cities sued the Trump administration on Thursday for repealing rules that limit planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions from power plants fueled by coal and natural gas. Twenty-one states, led by New York, are challenging the Environmental Protection Agency’s power plant rule. The Democratic-led coalition also includes Pennsylvania’s governor, the District of Columbia, New York City, Chicago and the city and county of Denver. They argue that 'gutting one of the country’s most significant climate protections' will set the nation back decades and worsen the climate crisis. The EPA announced last month it was revoking the Biden-era rule, and said it was taking a separate but related step to prevent future administrations from regulating climate pollution from power plants. The New York attorney general, Letitia James, said the federal government was showing 'callous disregard' for Americans’ health and the environment, and future generations will pay the price. Power plants that burn fossil fuels are a major source of planet-warming pollution.” Thanks to RAS for the link. (Also linked yesterday.)
New Hampshire Senate Race. Marie: The Washington Post finally got around to featuring the New Hampshire Senate race. Ben Binday, the reporter, could not have been kindlier to Democrat Chris Pappas. So Pappas, at least IMO, came across as boring. As he always does. His ads are depressing (so are his opponent's). And, yes, there's a good chance Pappas could lose, even in a state where Kamala Harris won two years ago: “The nonpartisan election prognosticator Cook Political Report recently shifted the race from 'Lean Democratic' to 'toss up' even while moving other ratings in Democrats’ favor.” Chuck Schumer must have picked Pappas. (Also linked yesterday.)
Tennessee. Emily Cochrane of the New York Times: “Tennessee’s embattled prison chief, Frank Strada, will step down later this month after overseeing the botched execution of Christa Pike, Gov. Bill Lee said on Saturday. Mr. Strada has been at the center of national backlash over Tennessee’s second failed attempt at lethal injection this year and has faced bipartisan calls for his resignation. His departure comes ahead of an independent investigation into what went wrong Wednesday, when Ms. Pike survived two doses of the drug pentobarbital.” The link is a gift link.      ~~~ Marie: Bill Lee hired that incompetent sadistic executioner "after a string of mishaps in executions in Arizona," according to a Times story (linked below). Wouldn't it be a good idea for Bill Lee to "step down," too?
Texas Senate Race. My Husband Is Pond Scum. Vote for Him. Lauren McGaughy of the New York Times: Angela “Paxton, the estranged wife of Ken Paxton, a conservative firebrand locked in a fierce battle for the U.S. Senate seat in Texas, is urging voters in a new ad to back the entire Republican ticket when they go to the polls next month. While Mrs. Paxton doesn’t mention her husband — whom she is divorcing, alleging adultery — by name in the ad, she addresses 'the elephant in the room' by telling voters they should look past their qualms with any single candidate and think about the future of the Republican Party.” The link is a gift link.
Helier Cheung, et al., of the Washington Post: “The co-pilot of a flight bound for Israel had been praying before he took a crash ax in the cockpit and began to strike the captain, hitting him several times and putting the plane into a sharp descent in an attempted terrorist act, according to officials and new accounts that emerged on Saturday. The alleged attacker on FlyDubai Flight 1073 has been identified as Omani national Hamam al-Hammami, according to Yossi Avraham Shelley, Israel’s ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. Al-Hammami was 'dismissed from Oman Air' and later departed from another airline, Morocco’s Royal Air Maroc, Shelley said. 'He has flown to Israel in the past, including recently,' Shelley said, with FlyDubai, the budget airline owned by the Emirati government.”
