Glenn Thrush & Colby Smith of the New York Times: “The U.S. attorney’s office in the District of Columbia has opened a criminal investigation into Jerome H. Powell, the Federal Reserve chair, over the central bank’s renovation of its Washington headquarters and whether Mr. Powell lied to Congress about the scope of the project, according to officials briefed on the situation. The inquiry, which includes an analysis of Mr. Powell’s public statements and an examination of spending records, was approved in November by Jeanine Pirro, a longtime ally of ... [Donald] Trump who was appointed to run the office last year, the officials said. The investigation escalates Mr. Trump’s long-running feud with Mr. Powell, whom the president has continually attacked for resisting his demands to slash interest rates significantly. The president has threatened to fire the Fed chair — even though he nominated Mr. Powell for the position in 2017 — and raised the prospect of a lawsuit against him related to the $2.5 billion renovation, citing 'incompetence.'

“Mr. Powell, in a rare video message released by the Fed, acknowledged on Sunday that the Justice Department had served the central bank with grand jury subpoenas days earlier. He described the investigation as 'unprecedented' and questioned the motivation for the move.... The Fed chair warned that the investigation signaled a broader battle over the Fed’s independence. '... This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions — or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation[,' Mr. Powell said].” (Also linked yesterday.) Update: new link, looks like a gift link. A CNBC story is here. ~~~

~~~ Sean James of Mediaite: “Shortly before the NYT report was published, Powell released a two-minute video where he said the probe was due to his unwillingness to lower interest rates, not the renovation.” ~~~
If there were any remaining doubt whether advisers within the Trump Administration are actively pushing to end the independence of the Federal Reserve, there should now be none. It is now the independence and credibility of the Department of Justice that are in question. I will oppose the confirmation of any nominee for the Fed—including the upcoming Fed Chair vacancy—until this legal matter is fully resolved. -- Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), after the NYT story linked above, was published. Via Mediaite
~~~ Sean James of Mediaite: “Powell’s announcement and the NYT report come after ... [Donald] Trump told reporters in late December he was considering suing Powell for “gross incompetence.' The president said he was aiming to sue Powell because the cost of renovating the Fed building had gotten out of control. Trump said the cost was north of $4 billion now — about $1.5 billion more than projected.” ~~~

~~~ Totally Innocent Bystander Falsely Accused. Garrett Haake, et al., of NBC News: “... Donald Trump denied having any knowledge of the Justice Department's investigation into the Federal Reserve after the agency subpoenaed the central bank Friday. 'I don’t know anything about it, but he’s certainly not very good at the Fed, and he’s not very good at building buildings,' Trump said of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell in a brief interview with NBC News Sunday night.... The Justice Department has previously opened investigations into current and former government officials following public pressure from Trump.... Powell's term as chairman ends in May, but his position as a member of the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors doesn’t expire until 2028.” ~~~
~~~ A Reminder. Jason Ma of Fortune, republished by Yahoo! News July 2025: "...  the Fed is self-funded, largely via interest income from government securities it holds. That means no taxpayer dollars have been appropriated for Fed operations — including building projects like the headquarters renovation. Most of the Fed’s income comes from assets such as Treasury bonds and mortgage-backed securities that sit on the central bank’s balance sheet and earn interest. That balance sheet exploded in size during the Great Financial Crisis and COVID-19 pandemic as the Fed bought trillions of dollars of bonds to prop up the economy." ~~~

Acting President of Everyplace. Tom Durante of Mediaite: Submitted without a comment to his Truth Social a little after 8 p.m. ET on Sunday night..., [Donald Trump] posted a screengrab of what looks like his Wikipedia page, but directly under his official photo is the title, 'Acting President of Venezuela.'” ~~~

Marie: Yesterday, I speculated that the reason Trump signed an executive order was to exact vengeance on oil & gas executives who didn't fall over backwards to invest in costly Venezuelan projects, as he wanted them to do. Trump's ordered protecting Venezuela oil revenues in U.S. Treasury accounts so that the oil & gas companies couldn't claim the assets in their many suits attempting to recoup losses caused by Venezuelan seizures of their property. Well, gosh, it looks like my speculation was spot-on. (I'd like to pretend my speculation is the result of my brilliant powers of observation & analysis, but we all know it's really because Trump is such a consistently narcissistic, vengeful, self-pitying, whiney-baby): ~~~

~~~ Seung Min Kim & Julia Nikhinson of the AP: “... Donald Trump said Sunday that he is 'inclined' to keep ExxonMobil out of Venezuela after its top executive was skeptical about oil investment efforts in the country after the toppling of former President Nicolás Maduro. 'I didn’t like Exxon’s response,' Trump said to reporters on Air Force One as he departed West Palm Beach, Florida. 'They’re playing too cute.' During a meeting Friday with oil executives..., Darren Woods, CEO of ExxonMobil, the largest U.S. oil company..., [said,] If we look at the commercial constructs and frameworks in place today in Venezuela, today it’s uninvestable.'... Also on Friday, Trump signed an executive order that seeks to ensure that Venezuelan oil revenue remains protected from being used in judicial proceedings.” ~~~
~~~ Paul Krugman explains the economic & geological realities that prohibit Trump's delusions of grandly running an international oil empire: “It’s amazing, if you think about it: Trump launched a war for oil without talking to the oil companies first.... 'Drill, baby, drill' is dead, at home and abroad. It was killed not by woke environmentalists but by profit-and-loss arithmetic. Trump may continue to promise huge production increases and sharply lower prices. Oil industry executives will humor him and pretend to go along. But it’s obvious now (and always was) that Trump’s energy dreams rested on crude delusions.”

World's Greatest First Amendment Advocate Promotes Right to Peaceable Assembly. In Iran. Barak Ravid of Axios: "Trump said publicly that he was willing to use military force if the Iranian regime killed protesters. On Sunday he said he is looking at 'very strong options' when is comes to supporting the protest movement in Iran.... U.S.-based human rights group HRANA said on Sunday that more than 544 people were killed and over 10,000 others arrested in the protests that took place in 585 locations across Iran over the past two weeks. Israeli defense officials told Axios Israeli intelligence assessments indicate that more than 1,000 protesters have been killed."

Still Crazy, After All These Years. Alan Feuer & Ashley Ahn of the New York Times: Donald “Trump said during an interview [last week] with The New York Times that he regretted not ordering the National Guard to seize voting machines in swing states after his loss in the 2020 election, even though he doubted whether the Guard ... [could] carry out the order effectively.... 'You know, they’re good warriors. I’m not sure that they’re sophisticated enough in the ways of crooked Democrats, and the way they cheat, to figure that out.'... The remarks ... harked back to one of the most perilous moments from his first term in office, when he was urged by some advisers to order his national security agencies to take control of machines manufactured by Dominion Voting Systems in an effort to find evidence that they had been hacked to rig the election against him.... Mr. Trump has long been obsessed with voting machines, particularly those built by Dominion, a company that has figured prominently in conspiracy theories that technology was used to rob him of victory.... Just last week, he reposted several social media messages that continued to push the claim that Dominion machines had been rigged against him. ”

~~~ Government Of the White People, By the White People, For the White People. Erica Green of the New York Times: Donald “Trump  said in an interview [last week] that he believed civil rights-era protections resulted in white people being 'very badly treated,' his strongest indication that the concept of 'reverse discrimination' is driving his aggressive crusade against diversity policies.... Mr. Trump echoed grievances amplified by Vice President JD Vance and other top officials who in recent weeks have urged white men to file federal complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.... Mr. Trump’s comments were a blunt distillation of his administration’s racial politics, which rest on the belief that white people have become the real victims of discrimination in America.” ~~~
~~~ Marie: Obviously, the real reason for the administration's draconian immigration policies is the racism that flows from the top down. But their more politically-correct Top Fake Reason -- "Ee-Yiii! Immigrants are stealing your jobs!" -- doesn't work, either: ~~~

~~~ Stuart Anderson of ForbesGovernment data show the Trump administration’s immigration policies reducing the number of foreign-born workers did not help U.S.-born workers in 2025. The latest data indicate a substantial drop in foreign-born workers did not translate into better labor market outcomes for U.S.-born workers or encourage more workers to enter the labor force. The U.S.-born unemployment rate increased over the past 12 months. Trump officials, including White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, predicted fewer immigrant workers would produce significant benefits for U.S.-born workers.... Miller’s theory, based largely on what economists call the 'lump of labor fallacy' or the belief that an economy holds only a fixed number of jobs, has hit head-on with reality. Reducing the labor supply has not benefited U.S. workers....
Several factors explain why the decline in foreign-born labor did not create an economic boon for U.S. workers in 2025 and will be unlikely to do so in the future. First, when business owners and potential entrepreneurs find an insufficient number of workers, they scale back or abandon plans to invest or expand, which can lead to fewer jobs for U.S. workers. Second, immigrants create jobs through their consumer spending on food, housing and other items. Third, immigrants foster job creation by starting new businesses, and their availability in the labor market may encourage businesses to keep work in the United States rather than outsourcing overseas.
Sean James of Mediaite: “The Department of Homeland Security on Sunday posted a three minute, 31-second clip of Renee Good blocking traffic in response to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey’s (D) claim she was 'definitively trying' to leave the scene before she was shot and killed.... The DHS clip showed Good’s Honda Pilot parked across a lane on a two-lane residential street as a car horn were blaring. Another SUV at one point — which looks to be an ICE vehicle — has to squeeze behind the Pilot along the right curb to get past it; a few other vehicles get around the Pilot in the clip. ICE agents can be seen walking around the scene while the phone-captured footage pans back and forth during the clip. The footage ends as agents approach the Pilot — seemingly the moment before Good tried to drive forward and was shot.” Includes DHS tweet with video clip. ~~~
     ~~~ Marie: The unsigned DHS clip claims that "For more than 3 minutes the anti-ICE agitator impeded a law enforcement operation with her vehicle." Since quite a few vehicles got past Good's SUV, I don't know that Good "impeded" the federal ops, though she may have slowed their operations. I also don't know that she's an "anti-ICE agitator." I have no idea what her motive was: maybe it was to impede goon squad, maybe she wanted to slow them down, maybe she was practicing perpendicular parking on a wide avenue. I have no idea. Neither do I find any evidence in this videotape that suggests (a) Frey was mistaken about Good's attempt to leave the scene, or (b) perpendicular parking on a public street or even "anti-ICE agitating" is a capital offense. ~~~

~~~ Both segments of this CNN YouTube video are helpful. "Betsy," the witness in the first segment, who says she was standing 5 or 6 feet from where Good's car ended up after Agent Ross killed her, tells CNN anchor Erin Burnett, "I didn't see anybody get bumped... They were not in danger of being injured or hurt by the vehicle...."
ICE Barbie, the Gaslighting Gnome. Mariana Alfaro of the Washington Post: “Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem said hundreds more federal agents will be deployed to Minnesota as federal and local officials on Sunday doubled down on their competing accounts of what led up to the killing of a U.S. citizen by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis last week, and who gets to investigate. In an interview with Fox NewsBusiness’s 'Sunday Morning Futures,' Noem said the administration will send more officers on Sunday and Monday. 'There’ll be hundreds more, in order to allow our ICE and our Border Patrol individuals that are working in Minneapolis to do so safely,' Noem said.... Trump officials remained adamant Sunday that Good was responsible for her own death.... Tensions over the facts of the incident grew as the FBI, which has taken over the investigation, continued to block Minnesota officials from participating in the inquiry, forcing the local authorities to conduct their own review. Speaking to CNN’s 'State of the Union,'  Noem said that Good was to blame for the shooting, even though an official investigation into the shooting has not been completed, and as video evidence raised several questions about the administration’s assessment of what happened.” (Also linked yesterday.)
Jamelle Bouie of the New York Times: “Eight years ago, I wrote an article for Slate arguing that Immigration and Customs Enforcement was an out-of-control agency that had become a 'sinister' and 'draconian' force 'harassing and detaining people who pose no threat to the United States or its citizens.'... In the hands of Donald Trump and Stephen Miller, ICE is a virtual secret police. Masked and heavily armed, ICE agents are sent to cities ... to terrorize immigrant communities and brutalize people who challenge their efforts to stop and detain anyone deemed suspicious. To expand its reach, ICE greatly lowered its recruitment standards.... To attract new officers, ICE advertises the chance to do violence to people deemed 'enemies' of the United States.... The result is an agency whose agents’ first recourse appears to be violence or the threat of violence.... During the first Trump administration, left-wing activists demanded that the nation abolish ICE. They were right then, and they are right now.” (Also linked yesterday.) ~~~
~~~ David French of the New York Times: “The terrible divisiveness of police violence is why responsible leaders respond to every incident with extreme care.... But Trump isn’t a responsible leader, and he’s at his absolute worst in a crisis. He lies. He inflames his base. And — most dangerous of all — he pits the federal government against states and cities, treating them not as partners in constitutional governance but as hostile inferiors that must be brought to heel.... The administration’s claims [that Renee Good was a terrorist] are false — absurdly so.... The Minnesota videos show that it was never necessary for the officer to open fire.... There is zero indication that [the Trump administration] intends to conduct a rigorous investigation. All of its public energy is directed toward demonizing Good and defending the agent.” (Also linked yesterday.)

James Pollard & Sara Raza of the AP: Some celebrities donned anti-ICE pins at the Golden Globes on Sunday in tribute to Renee Good, who was shot and killed in her car by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer this week in Minneapolis. The black-and-white pins displayed slogans like 'BE GOOD' and 'ICE OUT,' introducing a political angle into the awards show after last year’s relatively apolitical ceremony.” ~~~

California. AP: Los Angeles police responded Sunday after somebody drove a U-Haul box truck down a street crowded with marchers demonstrating in support of the Iranian people, causing protesters to scramble out of the way and then run after the speeding vehicle to try to attack the driver. The U-Haul truck, with a window and side mirrors shattered, was stopped several blocks away and surrounded by police cars. ABC7 news helicopter footage showed officers keeping the crowd at bay as demonstrators swarmed the truck, throwing punches at the driver and thrusting flagpoles through the driver’s side window. The driver, a man who was not identified, was detained 'pending further investigation,' police said in a statement Sunday evening. The police statement said one person was hit by the truck but nobody was seriously hurt. Two people were evaluated by paramedics and both declined treatment, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.... Los Angeles is home to the largest Iranian community outside of Iran.” ~~~

AP: “A man who grabbed then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s podium and posed with it for photographs during the U.S. Capitol riot is running for county office in FloridaAdam Johnson filed to run as a Republican for an at-large seat on the Manatee County Commission on Tuesday. That was the fifth anniversary of the Jan. 6 riot, where he was photographed smiling and waving as he carried Pelosi’s podium after the pro-Trump mob’s attack on Jan. 6, 2021. Johnson told WWSB-TV that it was 'not a coincidence' that he filed for office on Jan. 6, saying 'it’s definitely good for getting the buzz out there.' His campaign logo is an outline of the viral photograph of him carrying the podium. He’s far from the first person implicated in the Jan. 6 riot to run for office. At least three ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2024 as Republicans. And there are signs that the Republican Party is welcoming back more people who were convicted of Jan. 6 offenses after Trump pardoned them.”

New York City. Moving on up to the East Side. Eliza Shapiro & William Rashbaum of the New York Times: “Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his wife, Rama Duwaji, have begun their move from their one-bedroom Queens apartment to Gracie Mansion, the 11,000-square-foot historic home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan that has housed most of New York City’s mayors for decades. Though Astoria, the couple’s former home base, is separated from Gracie only by a bend of the East River, the move represents a psychic schlep between two politically and culturally divergent neighborhoods.” ~~~

     ~~~ Marie: Gracie Mansion reminds me of our old house in New Jersey. It used to have shutters like those on Gracie Mansion. One-hundred-two of them. I know that because I painted every damned one of them green. Elizabeth Gilbert, the fairly silly memoirist/author of Eat, Pray, Love and other books I wouldn't dream of reading, who lived in the house after we did, must have removed the shutters. The house sits on a palisade overlooking the Delaware River, rather than on the East River, the site of Gracie Mansion. Oh, and the New Jersey house is way smaller than Gracie Mansion. No ballroom.
Just as Marie was correct in her prognostication regarding Fat Hitler's whiny pique at oil company execs talking sense after he tried to bulldoze them with his demented fantasies regarding stealing Venezuelan oil, I guess I'll take a shot at being right about a comment I posted last night in which I used my super Sherlock Holmesian powers (ie reading the news and extrapolating based on the easily predictable grandiosity of a certain fat man) to suggest that the tinder box in Iran was too much of a easy target for Fatty.
The (not very hard to predict) idea was that if Iran was getting too much press, it was time for Trump to insert himself in the domestic affairs of yet another country in order to ensure his continued dominance of world headlines. His promise to bomb, bomb, bomb Iran is nothing more than an effort to grab credit for any success protesters might have. And whadaya know! Here he is bragging that Iranian officials called "begging him for a meeting". He did it again, folks! Stopped another war! Ain't he great? Naturally, the blood of those protesters putting themselves on the line to protest a repressive regime is nothing compared with Fatty's offhand comments about blowing shit up. He is the Lord of War, after all.
And, of course, if this "meeting" whatever it is, doesn't go the way he planned it, he'll drop a few bombs, cuz what's a snubbed authoritarian schmuck supposed to do?
And if he does decide to blast, will he alert Congress? Of course not! Cuz those guys can't be trusted to keep battle plans secure, like Drunk Pete and his Signal chat pals.
The legacy media must respond with instant, concentrated, and continued condemnation of Fatty's disgusting whiny baby attacks on Jerome Powell. This shit has gone far enough. What's next? The death penalty for unpaid parking tickets held by one of his many "enemies"?
And this business about "Wha happen? A lawsuit? First I've heard of it" should be used as a pinata by the press. Eva Braun Bondi doesn't brush her teeth without say so from her fascist asshole of a boss. He tells her what kind of toothpaste to use and which way to brush....up and down, then sideways, and no flossing! Flossing is Woke!
But I'm guessing the press will dutifully and sadly report that "The president maintains that he had no knowledge of the lawsuit brought against Jerome Powell, and we have to believe what the Dear Leader sez." Because that's how they roll. Or should I say that's how they are rolled.
The war declared on Minnesota by Fatty and his goons, Shady Vance, Himmler Miller, and the repulsive and too stoopid Gnome, is a warning to other blue states that they'll be next if they piss off Der Führer. But Minnesota offers other reasons for the rapidly escalating attacks.
:
"It’s very interesting that they’ve decided to make Minnesota the example. It’s not as big a state as California or Illinois so that makes it easier. And certainly the Republicans want to take down Tim Walz.
But really it’s just about race. Many states have large immigrant communities but they want to focus on blue states (which means Ohio, for instance, isn’t really on the menu.) To hit the real MAGA sweet spot they needed a Democratic state with a large Black immigrant, Muslim community and Minnesota perfectly fits the bill. Add in the fact that the George Floyd murder, which sparked the BLM protests that the right wing is still whining about, and you have a perfect target.
That the first killing is a blond, lesbian “wine mom” makes it just..." perfect.
Jonathan Chait, for The Atlantic, on T****'s Shrinking Coalition
"Trump has expressed bewilderment that his approval ratings could be so low given the breadth of change he has enacted. “I wish you could explain to me what the hell is going on with the mind of the public,” he complained at a recent gathering of House Republicans. “We’ve had the most successful first year of any president in history, and it should be a positive.”
In the president’s mind, he is living his best, Trumpiest life, and the public ought to be rewarding him for it. What he seems not to grasp is that he is losing support in no small part because he is accomplishing so many of his goals.
....
What has been more surprising is Trump’s alienation of voters who are sometimes described as being “anti-system”—people who distrust authority and often gravitate toward conspiracy theories. Those voters are disproportionately young and male, and they get their news from mostly untraditional sources, such as Joe Rogan and Nick Fuentes. Their embrace of Trump had appeared to signal a durable expansion of the Republican coalition.
Trump, however, has squandered their trust. "
This isn’t left vs right. It’s billionaire oligarchs vs us all. Extraction, repression, and fear—used to keep people divided while power concentrates at the top."
Why would DHS release video showing the ICE murderer calling his victim a "Fuckin' bitch"?
Easy...she pissed him off.
"...for [DHS], the video completely exonerates the murderer, because the victim mocked him, mocked his authority, didn’t take his fascist cosplay seriously. So he shot her in the face, three times. That’ll teach her. He saw that she was queer, he saw her wife, he couldn’t stand to be mocked by someone so inferior to himself, so he shot her in the face, three times, then called her a 'fuckin’ bitch' as he walked away from the vehicle now careening down the street with a dead woman at the wheel."
Of course, after he walked away unharmed and unfazed by just having murdered a woman in cold blood, DHS fixers made sure to whisk him off to the hospital where he could be "treated" for life threatening wounds, which he was lucky to have survived, as the Fat Man declared.
T'his is a wild post by Lincoln Project founder (and former Republican strategist) Steve Schmidt. It's worth a look.
"ICE thug Tom Homan appeared on “Meet the Press” a few hours ago, and cried crocodile tears over the labelling of his masked Gestapo as Nazis, which is precisely what they are.
What is Stephen Miller?
He is, of course, deranged, unserious, bombastic, crude, shrill and violent, but that alone does not suffice when it comes to seeing him clearly.
Let’s travel back in time a bit.
Let’s set the dial to September 21, 2025, and head to Phoenix, Arizona, on the occasion of the fascist rally that was dressed up as a memorial service that opened the gates to the best years of Erika Kirk’s life."
Schmidt includes a clip of Fat Hitler yapping about his enemies and how he hates, hates, hates them. Then comes Himmler Miller who blesses Fatty's words with the declaration "You have made Charlie Kirk Immortal" He leaves out the "Sieg heil".
Schmidt continues...
"These words mark Miller as a Nazi, which, of course, is appalling, given that he is a Jew, and no doubt the cause of his family’s denouncements.
Dorothy Thompson, the first American journalist to interview Hitler, and the first to be kicked out of Nazi Germany, was well acquainted with the mentality of the Nazis.
Among her greatest columns was this piece, entitled 'Who goes Nazi?' published in Harper’s in August 1941."
The post goes on with reference to Thompson's article about who is likely to be a Nazi and along the way shows clearly how many current MAGA media wonders are direct descendants of Josef Goebbels, including TuKKKer, Megyn Kelly, and, of course, the Musk Ox.
"Let us stop pretending that we cannot say out loud what we know is true
The Nazis and the MAGAs fit together like a hand and glove."
We're often warned not to equate Fatty's supporters with Nazis but that would be a lie. It's excruciatingly obvious. And it's time to stop equivocating and making excuses: "Oh...he/she didn't really mean that..."
Yeah. They did.
The DOJ is investigating the cost over runs at the Federal Reserve building renovation. I wonder who is at fault?
"Trump appointees pushed for marble in Fed renovation project
President Donald Trump's appointees to a Washington project review board pushed the Federal Reserve five years ago to use more marble for a renovation project at its headquarters campus that the White House is now using as the basis for attacks on central bank Chair Jerome Powell, saying cost overruns and "ostentatious" features like the premium marble the Fed incorporated into its final design are evidence of mismanagement by the Fed chief.
The proposal met stiff opposition from commissioners appointed by Trump, who issued an executive order later that year calling for the use of classical architecture for public buildings in the capital "absent exceptional factors." He reissued that same order on the first day of his current term in office.
At the January CFA meeting, Commissioner Justin Shubow argued that glass is "impermanent and fragile," and said the Fed's headquarters ought to look solid and permanent as befitting a bank building. Shubow joined fellow Trump appointees in supporting a proposal that the Fed's next submission include a design in "white Georgia marble."
The non-Trump appointees voted that plan down, but six months later the Fed's architects returned with a new proposal that did include that marble, the commission's documents show. The renovation plan, opens new tab was finalized in 2021."
I hope Jeanine doesn't have to arrest her boss, that might get awkward.
Under President Trump, the E.P.A. plans to stop tallying gains from the health benefits caused by curbing two of the most widespread deadly air pollutants, fine particulate matter and ozone, when regulating industry, according to internal agency emails and documents."
RAS,
Re: Judge Jeanine arresting Fatty? Hmmm…she’d need a few extra boxwine specials. Her usual two per day might not provide enough fortification (or excessive inebriation) for the task.
It’s tough being a kick-ass Trump lackey. It requires either a natural delusional mindset or one artificially imposed.
Wendy,
I appreciate Chait’s point that Fat Hitler may be losing (some of) his constituency, but I’ll believe it when I see it. I mean, even if he disappoints a certain branch of the MAGA tree, where are these despicable birds of prey gonna go to roost?
There are plenty of hateful assholes hovering around MAGAland like opportunistic vultures, but none of them are as reliably dreadful, racist, misogynistic, and vicious as the Orange Monster. No matter how pissed they are. Were he to run again (and he may) in 2028, they will support his fat ass unreservedly.
As Dorothy Thompson puts it, some people are born Nazis. Unless Himmler Miller decides to run for office, the Nazi-est MAGAts will never desert the Fat Fascist.
Akhilleus,
Yeah, I know. But it has got to be a little weird, if you are halfway sane, to keep finding Trump ordering investigations that the criminal behavior, real or imagined, centers around your cult leader who is starting all these investigations in the first place. Like the fraud inspector being run out of the White House that hasn't met a fraud they didn't want a piece of. They all have to be careful not to intrude on any of the boss's many schemes. Probably why so many of their cases have been so flimsy. They have to spend more time on the cover ups and keeping FH's name out of most of the cases.
"Trump Is Repeatedly Complaining About Bondi
President Trump has complained to aides repeatedly in recent weeks about Attorney General Pam Bondi, describing her as weak and an ineffective enforcer of his agenda, administration officials and other people familiar with his complaints said. The criticisms appear to be part of an intense campaign by Trump to pressure the Justice Department to more aggressively pursue his priorities, some of the officials said."
"Fort Greely struggles to feed soldiers due to impact of cuts initiated by DOGE
A remote Army base in Alaska that has a key role in intercepting incoming intercontinental ballistic missiles in the event of nuclear war says it is struggling to keep its dining facilities operating following an exodus of staff under the DOGE budget-slashing campaign.
The Army said it had explored alternative ways to feed the roughly 350 troops at Fort Greely, including transferring staff from Fort Wainwright near Fairbanks to Fort Greely. As a temporary fix, the Army considered using MREs — “Meals Ready to Eat” — the field rations used by the U.S. military. The Army said it didn’t have enough MREs to support the switch."
They did find money for "Hegseth took Laura Loomer and a bunch of right wing podcasters on a $380,000 an hour joyride on the Doomsday Plane for 6 hours at a cost of $ 2,290,000 each way from DC to LAX , just so they could film Hegseth working out at UCLA."
Apparently, one can do nothing about the stealing going on by Hogsbreath and all the others. That's what it is: pure conniving thievery, using millions of taxpayer funds to fly morons aplenty for nothing except the glorification of that piece of trash that is Hogsbreath. These are garbage people, fit only for the town dump. Maybe they can fly little Jonny Military Hack who kills women cheerfully mocking him. Maybe they can dump him off in Kansas. From the flying plane. Absolutely enraging to read that bit about the Greasy Hogsbreath.
