Its removal followed a congressional mandate to rid U.S. military property of names and symbols honoring the Confederacy and its leaders.... The statue ... included an enslaved woman carrying an infant child of a white officer and an enslaved man following his owner to war.

Doesn't Jeff Bezos know that if he impoverishes everyone in the U.S. except Jeff Bezos and a few other lucky duckies that there will be few left to buy products from Amazon & join Prime Video? The resentment of the rich for the hands that feed them is among the least attractive qualities of the ultra-wealthy. And they have many unattractive qualities.

We are in an existential battle for the country and for our lives as citizens of a constitutional democracy which they are trying to rename TrumpLand. And by the way, if it pisses you off that some Democrats continue to serve as conductors on the train to Pusillanimous Palookaville, we should be rejecting (finally and at long last) all advice to just relax, calm down (Carville) and go along with the standard response of a Strongly Worded Letter and tea and crumpets with MAGA scum like 666Jared (Schumer and Jeffries). And we can't just be manning the barricades, we need to get out there and start punching these assholes in the head.

I got a little insight today into a question that has bothered me for a long time.
The issue is the incident at Butler, Pennsylvania, where a twenty year old would-be assassin took a shot at a certain fat fascist. And missed, mostly. Looking at close-up pictures from that moment, it seems unlikely it was a staged event, even though it was just as unlikely that an inveterate, lily livered coward like Trump would jump up and pump his tiny fist into the air (could have been his overweening sense of a publicity coup which was just too good to pass up) staging such an event would have been impossible for a detail hating incompetent like Trump.
Nonetheless, that whole event has been dumped into the memory hole. Yeah, yeah, they had some investigation thingies, but it was mostly behind closed doors. There was nothing like the Warren Commission circus or even the public hoopla surrounding the attempts on the life of Gerald Ford. People today can still rattle off the names "Squeaky Fromme" and "Sara Jane Moore". Without looking it up, I can't even come close to telling you the name of the kid who tried to get Fatty (it was Thomas Crooks, and yes, I had to look it up). Most people can even tell you the name of the guy who shot George Wallace (Arthur Bremer--and I didn't have to look it up) and he was only a candidate at the time. Bremer's diary became source material for the script of Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" with its delusional, lone wolf central character.
But why is that? One would think that a publicity whore like Fat Hitler would never shut up about being the target of an assassin's bullet. Yes, he has those HEROIC pictures of Fight, Fight, Fight Fatty all over the White House, but the event is only referred to tangentially as "proof" that god saved his greedy fat ass.
Then I listened to historian Ruth Ben-Ghiat on a podcast talking about the fragility and fearfulness of strongman dictators. As of 2017, there were reports (none confirmed by outside sources) of at least five attempts to kill Vlad the Impaler. At least two attempts were made to kill the first Hitler, and there were several against Mussolini. According to Ben-Ghiat, the strongman doesn't want to make a lot of such attempts for several reasons. One, it makes it seem that not everyone LOVES the dictator. Two, it looks like he can be gotten to, if someone only tries hard enough. But three, it suggests the possibility of weakness, and that is something no strongman can abide. It only increases their paranoia and inherent fragility.
So perhaps this is the source of the (mostly) radio silence around the Butler event. It's possible that Fatty instinctively fears that harping on the assassination in any way other than to prove his personal divinity would make a fearful coward look even weaker. Some kid almost took him out. No MAGA god can abide that story making the rounds.
But Ben-Ghiat also offered some hope. She points out that strongmen (actually weakmen) who are routinely divorced from reality, come to believe their own superior, infallible nature and do something stupid and ill-advised, like starting a war. Mussolini's didn't end up so well for him. It got all him all turned around and upside down. Uncle Vlad isn't having a great time with his war, which is why he is so happy to see greedy bitch collaborators like Witless and Ku$hner coming to pay homage, kiss his ass and see if there's anything in it for them. And Fatty?
Here's hoping his "small potatoes" Iran clusterfuck finally does him in.
Not as fast as a bullet (which would have made him an eternal martyr for the Nazis and white supremacists who love him) but a lot more satisfying.

The video Marie posted about Fatty's monumental Trumpal Arse makes a point I hadn't considered. Fatty apparently wants to include an observation deck overlooking Arlington National Cemetery. Since when does a cemetery need a scenic overlook like it's a turn off on the Kancamagus Highwayin NH for leaf peepers?
Arlington is hallowed ground. Of course, Fatty used it for a propaganda photo op despite specific and strict rules about that, and when an Arlington official approached Fat Hitler's entourage using the cemetery for their own purposes, they abused him and shoved him aside. To Trump, the men and women buried at Arlington are losers. He couldn't possibly care less that his Trump Arse will block the view and create a festive site for tourists. He is all that matters, not those losers buried there.
The retired officer in the video mentions that service members and the families of those buried at Arlington have gone to court to stop the Fat Fascist from flashing his fat Arse in their faces. Of course, if and when this goes to the Swine Court, they will use their favorite tactic of saying that none of those people "have standing" in order to let the porcine pud puller have his way. But if military personnel and the families of service members who are buried at Arlington don't have standing, who does?

A source is telling the NY Post that ABC will knuckle under to the demands of the Orange Monster and take Jimmy Kimmel off the air next year.
